Green Edge Computing Corp named Best Edge Solution by STL Partners

News

Victoria, Canada, 4 August, 2023 – The launch of the EdgePod™ by Green Edge Computing Corp (GECCO), has ushered in a new era of compact low-footprint micro-cloud edge computing technology. We are pleased to be acknowledged as the Best Edge Solution by STL Partners in their latest article on Sustainability Services of the Year 2023, which explores some of the best sustainability enablement services available on the market.

End users that use cloud and non-cloud IT services, and the telcos that deliver data connectivity and data processing services, need to implement strategies that attain sustainable operations to meet current and future ESG obligations. Enablement technologies like the GECCO EdgePod™ are especially interesting because they can help diversify and capture new revenue streams while simultaneously reducing operational costs and the carbon footprint. STL Partners has declared GECCO the winner in the categories of best edge solution.

GECCO’s low-power compact solution builds on proven technology from the Defense & Aerospace industries to improve the environmental footprint of intense computing loads compared to technology used in conventional data centres connected by global networks (the “cloud”).

GECCO allows more data to be processed at the edge of the cloud, i.e. closer to the point where the data is created and consumed. By processing higher volumes of data at the edge, with much lower power and cooling, and using rugged systems that offer a longer lifespan and generate dramatically less e-waste, organizations with a mandate to reduce their footprint can make a significant difference for the environment and their own operational resilience.

“GECCO’s corporate mission is to deliver sustainable micro-cloud computing capability for the rapidly growing edge computing market,” says Jeff MacMillan, co-founder and CEO. “Our approach enable end users as well as telcos to reduce their operating costs and their environmental impact, while also enabling new sources of revenue. STL Partners has once again acknowledged GECCO’s innovation in this field and we are grateful for their insight and thought leadership.”

About Green Edge Computing Corp.

Motivated to reduce the impact of cloud computing, GECCO was founded in 2021 to offer a lower footprint alternative to the size, weight, power and cooling demands of conventional systems, and the associated reduction of e-waste that can be attained with more robust system designs.

The GECCO EdgePods™ and EdgeCards™ can reduce power and cooling needs by over 75% and eliminates up to 90% of the e-waste produced by obsolete computing equipment. GECCO offers lower total cost of ownership, improvements in business resilience, and a path to better edge computing while respecting the need to protect our global environment. About STL Partners

STL Partners help businesses within the telecoms and related industries to innovate, grow, and stay ahead of the competition in the face of widespread and rapid technological change. Based in the UK and serving a global clientele, STL Partners believe that in order to succeed, telecoms operators need to adapt and evolve their business model—rethinking what they offer their customers, how they serve them and how they profit as a result. This inevitably influences how vendors and other adjacent organisations must operate.

Ensuring physical access control to IT infrastructure is critical for organizations and businesses of all sizes, whether that infrastructure is a computer room, telecom closet, or on-premises data center. Physical keys, fobs and RFID cards can be lost or stolen, however, and staffing changes may necessitate replacing locks or issuing new keys on a frequent basis. An out-of-band digital-key security system brings numerous advantages to physical access control.

Electronics are vital to modern life, but their production and disposal pose significant environmental challenges. Planned obsolescence, a strategy historically used to boost short-term revenue, generates immense e-waste, depletes resources, and heightens carbon emissions. Yet, this doesn’t have to be the norm. By prioritizing sustainability through thoughtful design, reuse policies, and energy-efficient solutions, businesses can reduce waste and meet growing consumer demand for greener products. At GECCO, we are committed to redefining this narrative. Our EdgePod serves as a blueprint for sustainable electronics, showcasing how innovative design can minimize material use, extend device lifespan, and actively combat the environmental issues associated with outdated technology.
